STP4
Vaginitis is a common infection among women that is associated with weather, stress, hygiene and the weakened immune system. A survey of epidemiology indicated that 50% of women younger than 30 years old had the problem of vaginitis, and 75% of women have had a non-recurring yeast infection. In a healthy vagina, lactobacilli are the predominant commensal microbes and they create a slightly acidic environment which keeps the quantity of bad bacteria in control. Thus, imbalance of the commensal microbes can result in over growths of bad bacteria and yeast, causing vaginitis or urinary tract infection.
